To trust someone is to have complete assurance and certitude regarding their Character, Ability, Strength and Truth. The next step in restoring trust in God, therefore, is to find out whether He is truthful or not. Does He tell lies, or is He a God of His word? Is He honest or inconsistent in His word and ways? It gives me so much pleasure to say to you that our God is the God of Truth.
WHAT IS TRUTH?
This was the question that Pontius Pilate asked Jesus; a question that has been asked over and over again, as truth has been put on trial and questioned.
However, the Hebrew word for truth is “emeth,” which means firmness, sureness, reliability and stability. It also means constancy and continuance, faithfulness and reliableness. “Emeth” implies something that is enduring, everlasting and that can be relied on.
Psalm 40:11 NASBS
“You, O LORD, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me.”
Psalm 43:3 NASBS
“O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling places.”
The Greek word translated as truth is “aletheia,” which means revealing, unconcealed and unhidden. It implies that which is always there, always open and available for all to see, with nothing being hidden or obscured. “Aletheia,” is also used in reference to the sanctifying power of God’s word.
John 17:17,19 NASBS
“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. [19] For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.”
In English, however, truth means “that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.” Truth is absolute; it is unchanging and has no variations. Truth is fixed, supreme, complete, and unconditional. Synonyms for truth include fact, certainty, reality, accuracy, precision, genuineness, correct and right.
An African proverb says, “Truth is like cork in water; no matter how long you submerge it, it shall surely pop up one day.”
GOD’S WORD IS TRUTH
Psalm 119:160 AMP
“The sum of Your word is truth [the full meaning of all Your precepts], And every one of Your righteous ordinances endures forever.”
God’s word is truth and can be relied on. He is never mistaken or impelled to lie. Therefore, His word is true, accurate and sure. There is no falsehood in God; His Word is forever sure.
Numbers 23:19 NASBS
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
Something can be true but not the truth. The word of God is truth; it is not just true, but truth. Truth is supreme. It is absolute, fixed and unconditional. There is no shadow of turning with the truth. It is unchanging. See what the following scriptures say about that…
Psalm 119:89 NKJV
“Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.”
Hebrews 6:17-18 NLT
“[17] God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. [18] So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie…”

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”
“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
