Luke 22:31-32a NKJV
“[31] And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. [32] But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail…”
Although Satan’s intention was to test Peter and cause him to fall, Jesus prayed that his faith should not fail him. Faith is the shield that protects us and prevents the enemy’s ‘fiery darts’ of lies, accusations, temptations and intimidations from ‘hurting and wounding’ us. Faith will quench those ‘fiery darts’ and makes them ineffective.
The shield of faith acts as a buffer against the attacks of the enemy, especially, fear, doubt, unbelief, discouragement, worry and anxiety, which we constantly struggle with. It also helps us overcome the flesh, the world and Satan. An active faith gives us the boldness to stand up to the devil and resist him!
James 4:7 TPT
“So then, surrender to God [in faith]. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you.”
OUR CONFIDENCE IN GOD
Hebrews 11:6 AMP
“But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.”
We cannot see the heavenly blessings and resources that the Father has placed at our disposal, but by faith, we are confident that God is with us and has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us, and will protect, defend and deliver us. Knowing the truth of these promises builds up hope in us; we can endure and overcome the things that the enemy throws at us, without them affecting and contaminating our hearts, minds and souls.
Therefore, we must grow in faith; we must grow in our knowledge of God and develop the conviction that He exists, is real and is with us. We must believe and have confidence in God’s word and promises to us… that He is with us, that He is our provider, sustainer and protector, that He is our Saviour and deliverer, that He is our healer, that He is faithful! We must have faith in Jesus Christ, that He is everything the word tells us about Him! The stronger our faith in God, the more victorious we are over the enemy.
As the saying goes… “Fear knocked at the door, Faith went to answer it, and no one was there.” AMEN!!!
