I LOVE the Word of God, the holy scriptures, because Jesus Christ is the Word of God. Sometimes, I hold my Bible so close to my heart in a tight embrace, because it is the only physical representation of Jesus in my life.
John 1:1-5,14 NLT
“[1] In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He existed in the beginning with God. [3] God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. [4] The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it… [14] So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”
A MESSAGE OF LOVE
Jesus is not only the Word of God that brought the Creation into manifestation; He is also God’s Word to me, you and everyone. As the Word of God, Jesus conveys the awesome and powerful message of God’s love for all humanity, and His desire for us to turn back to Him, love, worship and walk with Him in humble obedience. This is God’s central message, which Jesus conveys to the world.
John 3:16-17 NLT
“[16] For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
Love is the only force that is capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. Therefore, through Jesus, the Word, we who were once alienated are invited into an incredible friendship with God.
This is one of the reasons why I love the word of God; as it teaches me how to relate and walk with God in this incredible friendship. It tells me so much about the Father and reveals Him to me in a personal way. It shows me what the Father thinks of me, how much He loves me and what His plans and purposes are for me. It also shows me what pleases or displeases the Father, and helps me to know His will so that I can fulfil it. (Psalm 119:11)
TODAY, I invite you to join me in celebrating Jesus Christ as the Word of God to us. As you celebrate, pray and ask the Father to help you to love the word and give you the grace to make it a priority in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand the word and show you how to walk in obedience to it. Above all, ask Him to reveal Jesus to you, as you read and study your Bible, the word of God.
SPRING OF LIFE
One day, I asked the Lord, what song would you like to hear me sing? He, immediately, replied, “Spring Of Life by Hillsong.” I had never heard of the song, so I went on the internet to search for it. In those early days of the internet, there was no YouTube or any of the other platforms where you could easily download music; so I went to my local Christian Bookshop and they burnt a copy for me on a CD!
