Last night, I was teaching on the two keys for effective prayer, namely, relationship and responsibility; I spoke extensively about our relationship with the God the Father. I realised how difficult it is for many believers to understand and accept our relationship with the Father; when they have had bad experiences of fatherhood with their own human fathers.
However, the revelation of God as our Father is one of the greatest revelations we can have, after salvation. Jesus adored His Father and spoke of the love that existed between them. Jesus desired that we might know the Father; actually, He encouraged us to pray to God as “our Father.” Paul also shared extensively about the Father and prayed that we would receive the grace and insight to know Him.
Ephesians 1:17 AMP
“[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son].”
As I spoke about the Father and our relationship with Him, my heart was overflowing with joy and gratitude for knowing Him! I became quite excited and animated, in sharing about Him. God is the Father from whom all fatherhood is derived. (Ephesians 3:14). He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us, to reconcile us to himself; so that we might not perish. (John 3:16).
Psalm 103:13-14 NLT
”The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. [14] For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.”
The love of the Father for us is beyond comprehension; we cannot fathom its length, breath, height, depth. We are the apple of His eye, and He is the wall of fire around us and the glory in our midst. (Zechariah 2:5). He said in Jeremiah 31:3…
“…Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”
I challenged the congregation to pray to God and ask Him to reveal Himself to them as Father. I was so confident that He will answer this prayer, because this has been my experience with Him. I challenge you also to pray the same; that you would also come to know the love of the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Father.
TODAY I celebrate and thank God for revealing Himself to me as my Father. I thank Him for being a caring, loving, merciful, compassionate, gracious and patient Father to me. He is so generous toward His children and showers us with so much love and blessings. God, our Father is worthy of all praise, honour and glory!

“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
