As Christians, God expects us to bear the fruits of righteousness in our lives; but what exactly are the fruits of righteousness? They are the manifestation in a Christian’s life which conform to the instructions of the Word of God.
For the purpose of these discussions, we will look at three key and important fruits of righteousness, namely, the Fruit of Faith, the Fruit of Character (Fruit of the Spirit) and the Fruit of Answered Prayer, which we are to produce in our lives.
THE FRUIT OF FAITH
Faith is the first fruit of righteousness, which we are to produce in our lives, in response to the word of God. If the seed of God’s word has fallen on good ‘soil,’ it will produce faith in the hearer.
Romans 10:17 ESV
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
WHAT IS FAITH?
Hebrews 11:1 (AMP)
“NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.”
Hebrews 11:1 NLT
“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”
Faith is… an established conviction (a firmly held belief and opinion) concerning things unseen; that is, God who we cannot encounter and experience with our five senses and His settled role in our lives.
Faith is… an assurance concerning the things we hope for (hope is a an expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen).
Faith is… evidence and proof (a thing that helps in forming a conclusion or judgment) of something we do not yet see, but believe because God said it in His word.
Faith is… the title deed or confirmation of things that we do not see but hope for. In Law a title deed is a document evidencing a person’s legal right or title to property. As such, faith is the evidence we have in our hearts about God, who we do not see, and His promises, which we have not yet attained.
Faith is…. an actualisation of God’s word. To actualise is to make reality of something. So, Faith is what makes God’s word and promises real.
Faith starts with believing the word of God and grows into a settled conviction and assurance.
FOR REFLECTION
Do you have the righteous fruit of faith in your life? Do you believe God’s word, immediately you read it? For example, the scripture says that God shall supply all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19). Do you believe and have faith, a certainty in your heart that this is true? Or do you doubt and remember past experiences when, SEEMINGLY, God did not meet your need? Take a moment to reflect on whether you have faith in God’s word. SELAH!
Whatever your answer, talk to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to help you develop the fruit of faith in your life.
Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”
“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
