BUILDING TRUST IN THE LORD (27):
The Ability Of God (10)

How Great is our God, how great is His name
He’s the greatest of all, forever the same.
He rolled back the waters of the mighty Red Sea
And said “I’ll lead you, just put your trust in me!

God’s relationship and interactions with Israel reveal His ability to us, as described in the above song. God revealed His presence to His people by performing great and mighty acts for them and on their behalf; each time acquiring or revealing a new name.

THE EXPERIENTIAL NAMES OF GOD

Therefore, apart from the seven fundamental names of God in Hebrew concept, there are also several experiential names. The manifestation of each name to Israel was always by experience, as God actively participated in their affairs. Let’s now discuss some of the experiential names of God; to help strengthen our confidence in God’s ability and enable us to trust Him.

1. JEHOVAH JIREH

    Meaning: “The LORD will Provide”

    Genesis 22:14 NLT
“Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the LORD will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.””

Abraham gave this symbolic name on Mount Moriah to memorialise God’s intervention in the imminent sacrifice of his son Isaac, by providing a ram as a substitute.

Jehovah-Yireh (Jireh) means the Lord will provide, just as He provided a ram for Abraham, in place of Isaac. This further boosted Abraham’s confidence in God.

    John 3:16 NKJV
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Ultimately, God ‘provided’ His own Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation, redemption and deliverance from sin and death, and reconciliation with Himself. Will God not also freely give us all things?

    Romans 8:32 NKJV
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

Jesus told us not to worry about the things that bring anxiety and concern to us in life – what we will eat and drink, what we will wear and where we will sleep, etc. The natural world around us (the birds, wildflowers, etc) is enough proof that the Father is personally and independently able to provide all that we need , without out help

God who provided manna and quails in the desert is more than able to provide for us our needs, spiritual, physical, emotional and material.

    Philippians 4:19 NKJV
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”

“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
