BUILDING TRUST IN THE LORD (28):
The Ability Of God (11)

We are now discussing the experiential names of God, because they further reveal what He is able to do.

2. JEHOVAH RAPHA

Meaning: The LORD Who Heals

Exodus 15:26 NLT
“He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.””

In Hebrew Rapha (râpâ’) means “to restore”, “to heal” or “to make healthful.”

Jehovah Rapha can be translated as “Jehovah Who Heals.” Jehovah is the Great Physician who heals the physical and emotional needs of His people.

I love this verse in the Book of Jeremiah, as it reveals and emphasises the healing ability of God. By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established. (2 Corinthians 13:1)

Jeremiah 33:6 NASBS
‘[6] Behold, I will bring to it HEALTH and HEALING, and I will HEAL them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth.”

Three different words were used to describe and emphasis the healing provision, process and power that is available to us from God, our Healer.

  • HEALTH (Hebrew: ărûkâh) – wholeness, healing, restoration
  • HEALING (Hebrew: marpê) – healing, a cure, soundness (of mind)
  • Heal (Hebrew: rapha) – to to restore, heal, make healthful. It is used of God as healer, physician.

God is not only able to heal, He is able to provide a cure, restore, bring soundness of mind, and make us whole again. To make whole is to repair or restore to a sound, healthy, or favorable condition. Thus, God’s healing results in an abundance of peace and truth.

Jesus Christ demonstrated this by healing people from all manner of diseases. Healing was the hallmark of His ministry.

Mark 6:56 NLT
“Wherever he went-in villages, cities, or the countryside-they brought the sick out to the marketplaces. They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed.”

Jesus did not only heal, He made many whole, restoring them to their God-given identity and status. Lepers we’re cleansed, the blind received back their sight and the lame walked again!

Ultimately, Jesus took our sins, diseases and infirmities upon His body and by His stripes, healed and made us whole.

1 Peter 2:24 NKJV
“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness-by whose stripes you were healed.”

Do you have any sickness in your body? Are you afflicted by the spirit of infirmity? Reach out to Jesus now, call upon Him in faith, and He will heal you. AMEN!

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”

“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
