5. JEHOVAH SHAMMAH
Meaning: The Lord is Present (Literally, The Lord is There)
Shammah is derived from the Hebrew word sham, which can be translated as “there.”
Ezekiel 48:35 NKJV
“All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE. (Yahweh Shammah)”
Jehovah Shammah is a symbolic name for the earthly Jerusalem, where God dwells. The name indicates that God has not abandoned Jerusalem, leaving it in ruins, but that He will restore it and abide in their midst. We take comfort in that Name, knowing that God is always there; He is always with us and in our midst.
Leviticus 26:11-12 NLT
“[11] I will live among you, and I will not despise you. [12] I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.”
Another scripture that assures me so much of God’s presence with me is Zechariah 2:5…
“For I,’ says the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.'”
Jehovah Shammah is also revealed in one of the names of Jesus Christ- IMMANUEL, which means, “God with Us” (every present). Immanuel reveals the mighty and awesome presence of God among His people, to help, save and deliver them.
Immanuel assures us that God is with us… to protect us… to destroy the works of the enemy, and save and deliver us from him…. to fight for us and give us victory!
Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ is always with us. The Father will never abandon us, He is ever present and always with us!
John 14:16,18 NLT
“[16] And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you… [18] No, I will not abandon you as orphans-I will come to you.”
Matthew 28:20 NKJV
“…And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
HIS NAME IS JEHOVAH SHAMMAH! THE LORD IS PRESENT!!!
