BUILDING TRUST IN THE LORD (51):
God Has Committed Himself To Us (2)

God’s word is His bond, therefore, every word and promise that He makes to us binds Him to us! We need to believe and have it firmly ingrained in our minds and hearts; that God has bound Himself to us by His word! We need to believe that God intends fulfilling every promise He has made to us!

The Holy Spirit once said to me, “God does not shortchange His children!” As children of God, He has made many promises to us in Christ Jesus, raising our expectation in Him. God does not entice us, dangle a carrot in front of us, and then change His mind and refuse to help or bless us! Remember…

Numbers 23:19 NKJV
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

If we believed this, we would trust God in every situation of life. If only we believed, we would have the confidence that Job had in God, which caused him to declare… “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him…” (Job 13:15)

THE EVIDENCE OF OUR TRUST

Of course, the evidence that we believe and trust in God, is our unconditional praise and thanksgiving. This is what Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah did in the midst of their crisis.

2 Chronicles 20:15, 17 NKJV
“[15] And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s… [17] You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”

When God the Holy Spirit made the above promise to King Jehoshaphat, he did not hesitate in unbelief. He and all Judah believed and began to praise and worship! When they began singing and praising God, the LORD honoured His word and gave them the victory; by setting ambushes against their enemies.

Whatever impossible situation we may find ourselves in, our first point of reference must always be God and His word concerning that situation. Did you hear that?

The challenges we face in our world today are many. However, we need to know that God has a promise, a solution to everyone of those challenges. He loves us, and is in control of everything! So let me repeat this… whenever you find yourself in a challenging situation, your first point of reference must always be God and His word concerning that situation!

As we turn and talk to God, He ministers to us through His word and Spirit. If we believe Him, He supplies grace for us to trust Him and enter into rest. Putting your trust in God will restore peace and joy to you.

Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
“[6] Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. [7] Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

SING WITH ME (WITH A SMILE ON YOUR FACE)…

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to take Him at His Word
Just to rest upon His promise
Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus
Oh, for grace to trust Him more

AMEN AND AMEN!!!

“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
