OVERCOMING DISCOURAGEMENT (15):
Overcoming Discouragement - Immediate/Short Term (5)

Though we may face many challenging circumstances we must never entertain and nurture discouragement in our lives! Here are a few more ways in which we can overcome discouragement, when a situation arises and we are at risk of getting discouraged.

6. Address The Cause Of The Discouragement

After strengthening yourself in the Lord and taking time to rest and replenish your strength, take time also to address the cause(s) of your discouragement.

We have already discussed some of the various causes, both natural and spiritual, and how to deal with them. So, hopefully, you will have an idea about the root cause(s) of discouragement in your life. Go over the previous devotionals again and see what you can actually glean from the teachings.

7. Talk To A Friend

You may share how you’re feeling with a close and trusted friend or family member and ask them to stand with you in prayer. Although, you must be careful who you share with; talk to someone who will encourage you, not someone who is negative and will drag you down further.

8. Do Not Quit, Fight Back!

Whatever you do, don’t quit! You must fight back and not quit; keep going on, focused on what you have to do!

Remember, discouragement is a choice. If you feel discouraged, it’s because you’ve allowed yourself to feel that way; this means that you can also fight your way out! Strengthen yourself in the Lord, through prayer, the word and worship. Strengthen your body and mind through food and rest.

Then do what you need or have to do, in spite of your feelings. The feelings of discouragement won’t last forever; hang on and hang in there! Stay close to the Lord, and keep going forward! He shall surely supply abundant grace to help you overcome.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT
“[16] That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. [17] For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! [18] So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” AMEN!!!

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”
“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
