“I think we have over-emphasised laziness to the extent that some of us feel guilty when we are resting and feel like we are just lazying about.”
This was what my son-in-love David wrote to me after reading yesterday’s devotional. It is amazing the expectations we put on ourselves, that lead to exhaustion and discouragement.
4. Fatigue (2)
Let’s continue with Joyce’s notes on what the Father spoke to us about resting and keeping ourselves and our bodies healthy, in order to minimise the risks of fatigue and discouragement.
The Holy Spirit helped us focus on three main areas…
A) SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
- Spend time resting in God’s presence, and with one’s self and family.
- Shift prayer focus from healing to proactive well-being
- Seek God’s grace to achieve balance and prosperity in spirit, soul, and body.
- Embrace the priestly blessing from Numbers 6:24-26, seeking wholeness and peace
- Trust in God’s promise that His glory will be our rear guard, bringing light into our lives.
B) THE CONCEPT OF REST
Remember that man was created on the ‘sixth day’ and God entered into rest on the ‘seventh day’; therefore, man was created into rest. We must prioritise rest, reflecting God’s design. (Hebrews 4)
- Daily Rest: We must make this a habit; similar to the Jewish tradition – each day starts at 6pm which ushers the people into ‘rest’ sleep. Each day should begin with a focus on rest. We should be keen to set a side ‘daily’ poses of rest.
- Family Time: We must dedicate one day to rest with family, to foster strong relationships and unity within our families. (This is the essence of the Sabbath).
- Adequate Sleep: Aim for 6-7 hours of sleep each night, which constitutes a third of the day.
C) HOLISTIC WELLBEING
- Diet Consciousness: Be mindful of dietary choices to maintain physical health. A balanced diet is essential.
- Wellness Supplements: Incorporate appropriate supplements like multivitamins, omega 3 oils, etc., for overall health. Utilize natural remedies like wheatgrass, moringa, and apple cider vinegar.
- Exercise: Integrate regular exercises into daily routines.
- Hydration: Drink plenty of water, especially in the morning and evening.
- Social Life: Cultivate a social life with family and friends, seeking God’s guidance in building meaningful relationships.
- Emotional Health: Check and avoid harbouring unforgiveness and bitterness to maintain emotional and spiritual light.
- Dressing: Dress well, in a manner that reflects our identity as royal daughters, embodying our identity in Christ, with wisdom and grace.
- Body Oils and Perfumes: Use body oils and perfumes that bring joy and enhance well-being
- Spa Treatments: Where possible and affordable we should consider regular spa treatments for relaxation and rejuvenation.
GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR PHYSICAL
Now, go through the notes again and prayerfully select what you need to incorporate in your daily routine to help you minimise fatigue, increase creativity and productivity, and decrease discouragement. Ask the Father to provide what you need. He is faithful and will help you.
Philippians 4:19 NLT
“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” AMEN!
Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”
“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
