For some reason, the second component of the armour that God has provided for us is my favourite – the breastplate of righteousness.
Ephesians 6:14 NKJV
“Stand therefore… having put on the breastplate of righteousness…”
2. THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
The breastplate or body armour of righteousness is our right standing with God obtained by faith in Christ Jesus; it is an essential part of our armour.
The Roman soldier’s armour included a breastplate, which served as a covering and protection for some of the most important parts of the body – the heart, lungs and other organs, which are vital and essential for life.
In the same way, the breastplate of righteousness protects our hearts against sin and the enemy’s attacks. Thus, we must “wear” our righteousness in Christ as a protective covering over our hearts and souls. In our own righteousness, we are vulnerable and stand no chance against the devil’s deception, accusations and intimidations; however, in Christ, we have been made right with God, and as such can overcome him and be victorious.
OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS IN CHRIST
Romans 3:22-25a NLT
“[22] We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. [23] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. [24] Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. [25] For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood…”
Jesus, who knew no sin, was made to be sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. We have a right standing with God and are blameless in His sight.
Job 29:14 NLT
“Everything I did was honest. Righteousness covered me like a robe, and I wore justice like a turban.”
Isaiah 61:10 NLT
”I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.”
One of the effects of our righteousness in Christ is peace. We have peace with God and quietness and assurance within ourselves.
Isaiah 32:17 NKJV
“The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” AMEN!

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”
“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
