The Whole Armour Of God (23):
Putting On The Armour Of Christ

It is truly encouraging that God knows the nature and dynamics of the battles we face, and has provided us with a befitting armour to protect us, and help us to overcome

Ephesians 6:13 AMP
“Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].”

As discussed over the past few weeks, the whole armour of God is not like a natural and physical garment that we take off and put on to sleep or shower. The armour of God is something we must have on and build up continually, by developing a Christ-like nature and growing into maturity to become like Him.

  • The belt of truth is the truth of God’s word about Christ. Indeed,Christ is the Truth!
  • The breastplate of righteousness is our righteousness obtained in Christ.
  • The shoes are prepared for the Gospel of Christ.
  • The shield of faith in Christ is based on the word of God, who is Christ.
  • The helmet of salvation is obtained in Christ.
  • The sword of the Spirit is the word of God, Jesus Christ.

Therefore, the whole armour of God is the nature, essence, character, authority, power and stature of Christ, which believers are supposed to know and develop in their own lives. In every area of our lives, as believers, we must be guided by the mind and will of Christ as revealed by the Holy Spirit and the word.

The five-fold leadership of the Church are to focus on raising believers to know Jesus Christ, the Son of God and to rise become like Him in stature.

Ephesians 4:11-13 ESV
“[11] And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, [12] to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, [13] until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

THE STATURE OF CHRIST

Jesus never showed any fear of Satan and his demons; he was never intimidated, deceived or overpowered by them. Actually, He exercised so much authority and power over them that they often submitted to Him before He even opened His mouth. Demons trembled at His presence and every knee bows at the mention of His name. He once told His disciples in John 14:30…

I won’t speak with you much longer, for the ruler of this dark world is coming. But he has no power over me, for he has nothing to use against me.” [TPT]

This is the stature that God wants us to grow into; full of the Holy Spirit and power and overcomers. When we were baptised into Christ, we put on Christ and must grow and develop to become more like Him and in order to operate in victory over the works of darkness.

1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”

“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
