Ephesians 6:11, 14 NASBS
“Put on the full armour of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil… Stand firm therefore, having GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH…”
The very dynamics of our warfare require that we put on the belt of truth; since the most common strategy of Satan is deception. He is a crafty schemer and often uses half-truths to get people to believe the lies that he tells us. He will ask questions that can cast doubt upon the truth, causing people to disbelieve or lose faith in God and His word.
This was exactly how he got the first humans to disobey God and fall into sin. (Genesis 3:1-5). Satan hasn’t changed his strategy since that day and he never will.
Jesus said to the Pharisees in John 8:44…
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (NLT)
By bombarding us with lies and half-truths, Satan can cause us to doubt, lose our faith in God, compromise, develop fear and sin. This is why we need to know the truth of God and His word; this truth must be the foundation of our belief and fundamental to all of life’s decisions. Girding ourselves with the belt of truth stops us from being easily deceived.
2 Corinthians 2:11 NIV
“In order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.”
There is a saying that the best way to find out how crooked something is, is to put it next to a straight line. God’s word is TRUTH, the absolute, fixed, unchanging and without variations ‘straight line,’ plumbline and standard of life, by which all things are measured and judged. Thus we must become grounded in the word of God, by reading, studying and meditating on it and endeavouring to live by it!
Banks don’t teach their tellers to recognise counterfeit money. They teach them to recognise the true and genuine currency, so that when they handle fake money, they are able to recognise it immediately.
Ephesians 4:14 NLT
“[14] Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.”
The more we read and study God’s word, the more we gain knowledge and are able to discern between truth and falsehood. In doing so, we will not be deceived or led astray. It is our duty to know the scriptures and judge everything we hear or are taught . We must be like the Berean Christians and spend time in the Word to discover and apply its truth; especially, the truth concerning Jesus Christ, who is God’s word and the way, the truth and the life.

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”
“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
