STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED (26):
Approved Workers (5)

Reading, studying and obeying the word of God prepares us for God’s approval. (2 Timothy 2:15)

5. IT PROTECTS US FROM DECEPTION.

Satan is a schemer and is very crafty; his biggest strategy against us is deception. He often uses half-truths to get people to believe the lies he tells us. He will ask questions that can cast doubt upon the truth, causing people to disbelieve or lose faith in the truth.

2 Corinthians 2:11
“In order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.”

By bombarding us with lies and half-truths, Satan can cause us to doubt, lose our faith in God, compromise and/or develop fear. Like Jesus predicted, there is so much deception going on at the moment, even within the Church; many believers are getting deceived.

Matthew 24:24-25 NLT
“[24] For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. [25] See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.”

We must heed this warning and buffer ourselves against deception. However, banks don’t teach their cashiers to recognise counterfeit money. They teach them to recognise the true and genuine currency, so that when they handle fake money, they are able to recognise it immediately. Likewise, it is important and necessary for us to read and study the word, to get better acquainted with the truth, in order not to be deceived.

Ephesians 4:14 NLT
“Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.”

The more we read and study God’s word, the more we gain knowledge and are able to discern between what is truth and falsehood. In doing so, we will not be deceived or led astray.

2 Peter 2:1 NKJV
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.”

Reading and studying God’s word protects us from getting deceived. Therefore, be approved workers of God, we must make it our duty to know the scriptures, and to judge everything we hear or are taught. We must become like the Berean Christians, and diligently examine everything in light of the the Word, to discover and apply its truth. The we will not be easily deceived.

Acts 17:11 NKJV
“Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.”

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”

“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
