BUILDING TRUST IN THE LORD (20):
The Ability Of God (3)

The LORD has gone to great lengths to reveal His ability to me through His names. In 2021, He did something awesome for me and my extended family, the descendants of my Grandfather. I cannot give the full details here, because that’s another saga, yet to be told. However, by word of knowledge and prophecy, the Holy Spirit revealed an act of idolatry within the family line, which the enemy was using to work against the family.

After revealing the act of idolatry, the Lord arranged circumstances to bring a man of God from the UK to join me and a few of my family members to stand in the gap and deliver the lineage, and restore His kingdom covenant blessings upon our family.

I remember very well, the night this was accomplished! As we were driving home afterwards, I heard these words in my native Ga language, “Sane Shishi Taolɔ Nyomgbɔ,” which means, “God who searches and reveals the root cause of all matters.” Through this act of deliverance, a new name for God was revealed to me, which I will never forget! Indeed, He is our “Sane Shishi Taolɔ Nyomgbɔ!”

SEVEN NAMES OF GOD IN HEBREW CONCEPT

God made a name of Himself each time He accomplished an awesome deed or work for and behalf of Israel. Therefore, the names of God reveal what He has done and what He is able to do. There are seven fundamental names of God in Hebrew concept and these reveal who He is and display His character, ability and strength. Let’s take a look at these names, to help us get to know God better and deepen our trust in Him.

1. YHWH

YHWH or “Yahweh” is the Jewish national name of God; the proper name of the one true God. It is the distinctive personal name of the God of Israel. This name is commonly known in English as “Jehovah.” It means, “the existing One” and first appeared in Genesis 2, when God created heaven and earth.

    Genesis 2:4 NASBS
“This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD (YHWH) God made earth and heaven.”

YHWH appears in the third person singular of the verb “to be”, therefore, meaning “He is,” or “He will be,” or “He lives.” This denotes the eternal and everlasting existence of God; a supreme and sovereign Being of the PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE.

    Revelation 4:8 NKJV
“The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who WAS and IS and IS TO COME!”

    Revelation 11:16-17 NKJV
“[16] And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, [17] saying: “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, the One who IS and who WAS and who IS TO COME, because You have taken Your great power and reigned.”

The root idea of the name YHWH means “to blow,” “to breathe,” “to bring into existence,” and hence, “to live.” YHWH is He who is self-existing, self-sufficient, or, “HE WHO LIVES”. Therefore, YHWH is the living God, as contrasted with the lifeless gods of the heathen, and He is the source and author of all life. (Psalm 96:5)

    REVERENCE FOR THE NAME

The scribes paused before copying God’s name, YHWH (Yahweh), due to the sacredness of the name and out of respect and reverence for Him.

Actually, the name YHWH was so sacred that it was later forbidden to be mentioned because there was no one, not even a priest, worthy to mention it. Therefore, God was referred to only as “The Name”. This was how much the people revered God’s Name, as they associated it with His Person (glory, character, ability, strength, truth, power).

We need to know, acknowledge and have confidence that our God is alive, living and active; He is not dead, like the idols of the nations. HE LIVES AND IS ALIVE!

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2024: “Building The Highway And Lifting The Banner”

“And in that day, there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him…. (therefore) Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 62:10]
